This 1955 Steinway Model B is in unrestored condition and will be completely restored. Built in the heart of Steinway's most celebrated post-war era, this 6'11" Satin Ebony grand is one of the most iconic instruments in the piano world. The Model B is widely regarded as the "perfect piano", large enough to fill a concert hall with authority, yet refined enough for the most intimate home music room. It is the instrument of choice for professional pianists, recording studios, and serious musicians the world over.
This piano requires a complete restoration. Our master craftsmen have thoroughly inspected the instrument and determined that a full rebuild is needed to bring it to concert-ready condition. The soundboard is in good structural condition with zero cracks detected, making it an excellent candidate for a full restoration. Work needed includes a new pinblock, new strings, new tuning pins, new agraffes, bridge recapping, harp rebronzing, and replacement of all damper felts. The entire action — hammers, shanks, flanges, wippens, and backchecks, needs to be replaced, and the cabinet requires a full refinish. One leg lock needs to be replaced as well.
If you are interested in having Lindeblad restore this piano, we would love to discuss the options with you. We offer fully custom restorations tailored to your preferences — finish, action, voicing, and more — and we are happy to walk you through every detail and provide a personalized quote. A fully restored 1955 Steinway B in Satin Ebony is a truly exceptional instrument.

Maintaining proper humidity is critical to the well-being of your fine instrument. Protect it with the industry leading Dampp-Chaser Piano Life Saver which monitors the piano’s humidity levels and maintains an ideal 42% relative humidity.
The look of a piano is one of its most important attributes. Once stripped to the original unfinished wood veneer, the choices are limitless. Select from a wide variety of stain colors, or we can mix a custom color. Once stained, layers of lacquer are slowly applied to create your desired finish, from open-pore to closed-pore. Finally, the lacquer is painstakingly hand-rubbed to create a satin, or high-gloss polish.
Once your piano is delivered, we give you 30 days to play it and make sure everything is exactly as you wish. If not, simply let us know, and we will pick up the piano and give you a full refund. Additionally, when you buy a restored piano from Lindeblad you can, at any time in the future, exchange that piano for another of our pianos and apply the full price you paid to the exchange.
